Nestled between Blackburn and Chorley in Lancashire, Withnell Fold is a picturesque hamlet renowned for its rich industrial heritage. In 1843, Thomas Blinkhorn Park, son of a local cotton mill owner Robert Park, established Withnell Fold Paper Mill on a greenfield site adjacent to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The mill began production on 15th January 1844 with a single paper machine, followed by two more in 1847 and 1855. By 1863, the mill was producing high-quality writing paper, and by 1878, it had expanded to include cartridge paper.
The mill supplied newsprint to newspapers in Preston, Bolton, and Liverpool, and continues as a family-run business until 1890, when it merged with Wiggins Teape & Co. The mill ceased operations in 1967, and the main buildings were demolished in the 1970's.

Among the few remaining structures is the Grade II listed chimney, constructed in 1854 as part of an expansion to accommodate increased production.

In 2014, Primrose undertook the restoration of the Chimney House, rescuing it from the threat of demolition.
